Visit Corby and Northamptonshire - about Corby

Scottish migration, and the migration to Corby has created a unique population in the borough, evidenced most clearly in the 'Corby accent', which is often described as sounding Glaswegian in some residents. The link with Scotland is a strong feature of the area: according to the 2001 Census, there were 10,063 Scottish-born in the Corby Urban Area – 18.9% of the population, it has been estimated that a further third of the population are of Scottish descent, a fact which can be attributed to the huge importance of the town’s steel making heritage when Scots migrated for work.

Whether you are attending a business meeting in Corby or simply visiting as a tourist, there is plenty to keep even the most active of travellers entertained, including the historic Rockingham Castle, stately Althorp House and high speed thrills at nearby Rockingham Speedway or Silverstone Grand Prix circuit. Corby is an ideal place to visit.
