Northampton has long been an important market town throughout due to its excellent transport links and location less than 70 miles from London. Its history stretches back to Roman times while the town has long been known as a centre of shoe making excellence – check out the Northampton Museum for living proof!

If sport is your passion, Northampton is also home to, Guinness Premiership rugby side, the Northampton Saints as well as first division football club Northampton Town, known as ‘The Cobblers’ from the town’s shoemaking background.

For TV fans, Northampton was the location for the BBC comedy series ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ with the legendary Hyacinth Bucket!
